Description
Alligator pepper, scientifically known as Aframomum danielli, is a spice native to West Africa, particularly Nigeria and Cameroon. It belongs to the ginger family (Zingiberaceae) and is closely related to grains of paradise and cardamom. Alligator pepper is named for its appearance, as the seeds have a rough, ridged texture that resembles the skin of an alligator.
